Valleyfair maintains high standards for our employees.Since we are a family amusement park, there are certain standards in appearance and personalities that we require of all our employees. These standards may seem exceptionally high and conservative, but they are what our guests have come to expect from the park and our employees over the years. General:Two sets of uniforms are issued to each employee. Most outfits consist of shorts and a shirt. The apparel is comfortable and practical for the intended job. Men:Men's hair must be neatly trimmed and maintained. Unusual, exotic or extreme hairstyles including, but not limited to: multi-colored, sculptured, tails, partially shaved, shaved patterns and spikes are not permitted. The bulk of a man's hair needs to be two inches or less, with the back not touching his shirt collar. Sideburns may only extend as far as the ear lobe and cannot flare out. Men must be clean-shaven every day. If a man has a mustache, it must be fully-grown when he starts work, and it must not extend past his upper lip. Goatees, beards or excessively long sideburns must be shaved off prior to the first day of work. Women:Women's hair must be of a conservative nature. Unusual, exotic or extreme hair styles including, but not limited to: multi-colored, sculptured, tails, partially shaved, shaved patterns and spikes are not permitted. Extreme color or highlights in hair are not acceptable. Hair may be dyed if it is one color and a natural (black, brown, blonde) color. We recommend women with long hair wear it pulled back for comfort. Make-up should be conservative and kept to a minimum. Jewelry:Women can wear two earrings per ear. Earrings must be small hoops or studs. Men cannot wear earrings. Visible body piercings are not permitted (i.e. nose, lip, tongue, etc.). Bandages cannot be worn to cover an exposed body ring. Employees thinking about getting an exposed body part pierced should plan ahead so it heals and can be removed without the hole closing. Because many employees work around machines, rings must be limited to two per hand and necklaces must be worn inside the shirt. Shoes/Socks:Most Valleyfair employees are required to wear white tennis shoes and white socks. There can be some color on your shoes, but the majority of the shoe must be white. Shoes must be laced and tied. Each department will provide specifics. Weather:Valleyfair does not automatically close in severe weather. In weather situations, employees still need to be prepared to fulfill their work responsibilities. The Security department and the management team keep a close watch on the weather. Promptness:Valleyfair's guests expect the park to be fully functioning when the gates open each morning. We do not have the flexibility to accommodate employees who are habitually late. Tardiness not only affects the employee but also affects the employee's team members and our guests. Outgoing Personality:With more than 1 million guests visiting the park each summer and more than 1,500 employees, each person hired to work at Valleyfair must be a "people person." Excellent interpersonal skills are required and are critical components for a win-win employee/guest experience. Read the Information:Every Valleyfair employee completes several phases of training covering extensive information. To fully understand all the material, each employee is expected to thoroughly read all training material provided and ask questions if they do not understand something. For more information on Valleyfair's high standards for our employees, call our Human Resources Department at 952-496-5358. |
