| Our Employee Accommodations Department provides assistance to employees seeking housing. We will provide information and assistance to make your transition from school to your summer accommodations as smooth as possible.
There are three options to explore when considering summer housing:
- Family or friends that live in the Twin Cities area may be willing to share their homes with you. This is often the most cost-effective route to take.
- Renting rooms or apartments in surrounding communities. Once you are accepted for employment at Valleyfair, you will receive a housing form with which you can request the following information.
- Rooms to Rent - Many families offer rooms or sections of their home for rent.
- Roommate Lists - Names and phone numbers of other Valleyfair employees who are interested in finding roommates.
- Apartment Rentals - A list of apartment complexes that offer short-term leases.
Housing Subsidy: If you decide to rent a room or an apartment in the Twin Cities area, you may qualify for partial reimbursement of your rent incurred each month ($125 per month for up to five months). Rent subsidy is considered income and is taxable. To qualify for the housing subsidy, you must:
- Be a seasonal employee working a minimum of 130 hours per month and earning less than $11.00 per hour (this figure includes the bonus)
- Have a permanent address of 50 miles or more from Valleyfair
- Be in a legitimate landlord/tenant relationship
- Pay at least $125 per month in rent and must present proof of rent payment before you can receive the subsidy payment
- On-Site Housing provides sleeping quarter for approximately 420 employees. Since the number of spaces for on-site housing is limited and offered on a first-come first-serve basis, you may need to explore other housing options.
On-Site housing includes:
- Rooms which house four (4) people
- Rooms with heating and air conditioning, bunk beds, four locker-style closets and two dressers and a refrigerator
- Television lounges and a coin laundry facility
- Kitchen facilities on each floor
- Rent which is paid through check deduction and is approximately $41 per week
