Revenue Control - 3 positions (full for '09)

  • Resolve large cashier overages and shortages
  • Compile and input revenue and attendance figures
  • Prepare various revenue reports, verify accuracy of reports
  • Maintain accounts payable files
  • Audit inventory and register receipts
  • Compute daily revenue journal entries
  • Compile preliminary per capita spending report
  • Determine taxable and nontaxable sales by location
  • Perform various other duties as assigned

Cash Control 20-25 positions (full for '09)

  • Prepare, issue and receive change funds
  • Collect and count revenues; determine gross receipts by location
  • Operate coin counters, currency counters, coin wrapping machines
  • Prepare bank and credit card deposits
  • Prepare bank deposits for armored car pick-up
  • Maintain cashroom work area
  • Reconcile various petty cash accounts
  • Perform computer data entry
  • Reconcile daily gross receipts to actual money counted
  • Position Requires:
    • The ability to walk long distance walking (1 to 1-1/2 miles) while carrying 20-40 pounds
    • A valid driver's license

 

Accounting Assistant - 1 position (full for '09)

  • Disburse all pre-sold, consignment and complimentary tickets
  • Reconcile all pre-sold, consignment and complimentary tickets to ensure all revenues for Group Sales ticket are received
  • Use computer to aid process
  • Maintain all receivable accounts for consignment and pre-sold ticket sales
  • Perform various other duties as assigned

All Accounting Positions

  • Work 40-50 hours per week
  • Have shifts that are rotated weekly between days and evenings
  • Require candidates who are at least 18 years of age
  • Require candidates who are able to lift 20-50 pounds and are able to stand for brief periods of time.
  • Pay: $8.50-$9.00/hour plus $1/hour bonus upon fulfillment of contract

Food Operations

Warehouse Inventory Control/Management

  • Take comprehensive daily inventory
  • Log in product received and monitor it for damage and quality assurance
  • Charge out all products delivered from the warehouse to appropriate locations to ensure financial accountability
  • Perform general day-to-day warehouse responsibilities

Office/Clerical

  • Manage/organize the Food Operations Office
  • Schedule seasonal employees
  • Ensure all paperwork is completed in a timely manner
  • Act as liaison between Food Operations management, vendors, visitors and employees

Food Services Management

  • Be the primary supervisor for team members in his/her location
  • Enforce all company and department policies/procedures withing location
  • Train/develop team members within location
  • Address all employee concerns and communicate with all team members and management staff
  • Maintain proper staffing levels
  • Communicate any problems to management
  • Run the daily operation of the assigned location including maintaining proper inventory levels, organizing breaks, ensuring food quality and providing a safe and sanitary work environment

Picnic Services Management

  • Assist with placing picnic orders
  • Complete all production/usage charts and picnic summaries
  • Ensure the proper amount of food is produced/ maintained
  • Keep accurate ticket counts and complete associated paperwork
  • Maintain good rapport with Group Sales Account Executives and their clients
  • Maintain proper inventory levels, food quality, a safe work environment and sanitary conditions
  • Oversee on-the-job-training programs and conduct proper coaching/counseling when performance or policy violations require such action
  • Communicate all problems to management

Marketing & Group Sales

Marketing and Group Sales Assistant

  • Handle phone inquiries and reservations
  • Count and prepare tickets for groups
  • Greet groups upon arrival, collect payment, and distribute tickets to group leader
  • Ensure proper and efficient operation of Group Sales Booth
  • Reconcile booth transactions daily with Accounting Department
  • Compute and distribute daily pre-sold attendance figures
  • Assist with preparation for company picnics
  • Coordinate high school band program
  • Escort media representatives/photographers in the park
  • Assist with marketing promotions and special events
  • Produce/distribute one-page daily newsletter
  • Write articles for bi-monthly newsletter
  • Conduct surveys of park guests
  • Perform data entry

Group Sales Assistant

  • Handle phone inquiries and reservations
  • Count and prepare tickets for groups
  • Greet groups upon arrival, collect payment and distribute tickets to group leader
  • Ensure proper and efficient operation of Group Sales Booth
  • Reconcile booth transactions daily with Accounting Department
  • Compute and distribute daily pre-sold attendance figures
  • Process payments and maintain payment information for consignment ticket accounts

Group Sales Event Host/Hostess

  • Handle phone inquiries and reservations
  • Count and prepare tickets for groups
  • Greet groups upon arrival, collect payment, and distribute tickets to group leader
  • Ensure proper and efficient operation of Group Sales Booth
  • Reconcile booth transactions daily with Accouting Department

  • Serve as a picnic host for clients

Internal Auditor

Two summer interns are needed to fill highly visible audit staff positions with a large, publicly held company (www.cedarfair.com).  These positions offer the chance to acquire an exceptional amount of audit, accounting and business experience while working in a fun and professional environment.  Valleyfair is open daily mid-May to Labor Day and weekends in September and October.  Internships begin in mid-May, but may be adjusted to fit academic schedules.

 

·        Involved in planning, performing and reporting on financial and operational audits in the park, under the direction of the Internal Audit Manager.

 

·        Assignments may include completing audit work for our national CPA firm, performing audits on the controls over Revenue, Cash Receipts, Accounting and Computer Systems, Payroll, Purchasing & Expenditures, Inventory, etc. 

 

·        After each audit, you’ll also write a report to management on your conclusion, including necessary recommendations for improvements to controls. 

 

·        Audit interns will also perform an audit involved with Sarbanes/Oxley testing required by our national CPA firm. 

 

No audit experience is necessary, as training and guidance will be provided during the internship.  Candidates must be highly motivated and able to work professionally with and without supervision.  Excellent communication skills are a plus.  Auditors must be willing to work approximately 48 hours per week, with varying daily schedules.  Candidates should be Accounting or Finance majors in their sophomore year or above, earned a G.P.A of 3.0 or higher and have completed an accounting course prior to the internship.

 

Pay: $9 per hour plus $1 per hour bonus awarded upon the fulfillment of your work agreement.
