JDRF Week at Valleyfair | July 15-21

July 17, 2019

Life with T1D can come with a lot of “rollercoasters” – the blood glucose kind, the emotional kind, and more. That’s why we’re partnering with JDRF! For those of you that don’t know, JDRF is a non-profit organization that funds research for type 1 diabetes. JDRF advocates for regulation to medical research that makes it easier to market new medical devices! Just in 2018, JDRF invested over $362.5 Million into T1D research!

Those who have T1D have trouble making insulin, the hormone that controls blood sugar levels. Millions of people around the world live with diabetes or know someone living with diabetes. The majority have type 2 diabetes, but an important minority have type 1 diabetes (~5%).  Contrary to popular belief, type 1 diabetes is not a childhood disease.  It occurs at every age, in people of every race, and of every shape and size. In fact, there are more adults who have type 1 diabetes than children, although it was previously known as juvenile diabetes. (http://www.diabetes.org/diabetes-basics/type-1/)

Valleyfair is proud to partner with this awesome organization July 15-21 for JDRF Week! Cedar Fair parks, including us here at Valleyfair, have supported JDRF over the past few years and have enjoyed partnering on the mission to create a world without T1D. During JDRF Week, for every Valleyfair ticket purchased at http://pages.cedarfair.com/jdrf, $2 will be donated to T1D research! You will also have the option to make an additional donation to JDRF if you are also passionate about the mission. Your tickets are valid through the end of the so grab your tickets now for some summer fun!

For extra fun, be sure to visit the park from July 15-23 for JDRF week. During this week, Valleyfair will be collecting coin donations in parks, donations made via JDRF awareness videos will be displayed on FUNtv network and you may see Minnesota’s local JDRF Chapter in the park! We hope to see you all there!
