Tips and Tricks to Surviving ValleySCARE

As the air cools and colorful leaves fall, Valleyfair hands the park’s keys over to vampires, zombies, and other horrifying monsters that come out of hiding for ValleySCARE. Valleyfair unleashes the creatures that go bump in the night on Fridays and Saturdays through the end of October. If you are asking yourself, “how will I make it out alive,” you came to the right place. Here are a few tips and tricks that might just save you during your trip to ValleySCARE.

Tip 1: Halloween Haunt is 13+

We recommend for Halloween Haunt that you be 13 years of age or older. Our scare zones and mazes will leave you sleeping with the lights on which may be too intense for young children. Besides, it’s easier to outrun a zombie if you don’t have to carry a child!

Families can enjoy The Great Pumpkin Fest activities on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 7 PM. The Great Pumpkin Fest takes place in Soak City, which transforms into a PEANUTS-themed Halloween fun zone. Your kiddos can come dressed up in their costumes and take a stroll down Trick-or-Treat Street or participate in our costume parade with the PEANUTS characters!

Tip 2: Bring Your Friends

It is a real test of friendship to make it through one of our six horrifying mazes. Are you brave enough to lead your group of friends into the dark or will you safely conceal yourself in the middle of the group? Either way, ValleySCARE is not an event you want to experience alone.

Tip 3: No Boo Necklaces

If the shocking fear of monsters jumping out is not your thing, stay safe and purchase a No Boo Necklace. These light up necklaces make you invulnerable to our monsters and their fearsome ways. No Boo Necklaces can be purchased at select locations in the park and may be worn by anyone, any age.

WARNING: Mazes do NOT acknowledge No Boo Necklaces, so enter at the risk of being terrified.

Tip 4: Fright Lane/Fast Lane with Skeleton Key

If you’re feeling brave, increase your fear in one of our seven Skeleton Key rooms. Discover tight spaces, extreme situations and unforgettable encounters in rooms designed to test the boundaries of your deepest terrors. It’s an experience you will not forget!

Skeleton Keys are available with the purchase of a Fright & Fast Lane pass which includes front of the line access to six Haunt mazes and over ten rides, such as Wild Thing and North Star.

Tip 5: Blood Suckers Buffet

Sink your teeth into a tempting array of pizza, pasta, salad and side items. Blood Suckers Buffet is an all-you-can-eat dining experience every Saturday from 5:00 - 6:30 PM. The menu includes pizza, breadsticks, butternut squash pasta, garden salad, mac ‘n’ cheese, tater tot hot dish, pumpkin pie, cookies, Coca-Cola beverages and adult beverages (for which you must be 21+ years of age). Fueling up is an excellent way to guarantee that you can outrun the monsters during the rest of your visit.

If you have a group of 15 or more coming to ValleySCARE, be sure to reach out to our Group Sales team for discounts on tickets and food!

Tip 6: Live Entertainment

Take a break from the creepy creatures and enjoy some of our live shows! Stop by Galaxy Theater to see Hacks 2: Electric Boogaloo. This comedy show will leave everyone with splitting sides, and it will give you just enough time to center yourself between fun and fear. You can also run to Gazebo Stage anytime from 7 PM-midnight for another great distraction, DJ Tek. This dance party is sure to knock any perusing monsters off your trail!

Tip 7: Don’t Take Selfies in the Maze

Although it should be self-explanatory, the flash will attract the monsters in the maze right to you! Not to mention that it will hold up the line of people behind you if you pause to strike a pose. There is also the chance that the flash will make your eyes unadjusted to the darkness and you might trip in perfect horror movie fashion as a perusing monster is hot on your heels.

Hopefully, these tips and tricks will help you on your journey to ValleySCARE, and who knows… you might even make it out alive!
