Valleyfair is excited to announce three new team members that will be leading our Food and Beverage Team in the 2019 season.

Matthew Anderson joined the Valleyfair team in October as the new Director of Food and Beverage. Anderson previously worked for Xcel Energy Center where he held the position of Premium Director. Anderson received an Applied Science-Culinary Arts degree at the Art Institute of Minnesota. He has served as on the Board of Directors for the Minnesota Restaurant Association, the Bloomington Chamber of Commerce, and the Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce.

"Our team is going to be focused on chef-driven menus featuring fresh dishes and unique offerings," Anderson said, "Valleyfair has some great items in places already and we are going to develop those offerings for the 2019 season."

David Whitmer also joined  Valleyfair in October as our new Executive Chef.  Before switching to the amusement industry, Whitmer was the Executive Chef at The Newsroom restaurant in downtown Minneapolis.  In this position, Whitmer was responsible for all kitchen operations in an all-scratch kitchen. He was involved in menu planning, recipe development, and new product testing. Prior to joining The Newsroom, Whitmer served as the Head Chef of the Red Rooster Restaurant & Lounge.  Whitmer is a graduate from the Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Program at Brown College.

"I am most excited to change our guest's perceptions and expectations when it comes to Valleyfair’s food offerings," Whitmer said, "I want to entice the guests to come for the food, stay for the fun!"

Anyone looking to have a catered event at Valleyfair in 2019 will be excited to meet our new catering manager, Skye Spicer. Spicer received her Pastry and Culinary Arts degree from Hennepin Technical College. After graduation, Spicer moved to South Carolina where she opened her own bakery, Skye's Cupcakes, which specialized in cupcakes, cakes, and assorted deli sandwiches.

"I am so excited to lead a wonderful team of hard working associates who are dedicated to providing a wonderful group experience," Spicer said, "We are looking forward to a season filled with great food and some fun new ideas."

The new team members joined a crew of seasoned veterans. Eric Kormanick, Valleyfair's F&B manager, and AJ Larson, Valleyfair's F&B warehouse manager, have both been with Valleyfair for a number of seasons are excited to take Valleyfair's food offerings to the next level.

This dynamic Food and Beverage team has already hinted at some of the new food items that will be featured in 2019. We won't be releasing any new menu details until 2019 but you will just have to trust us - there are going to be some awesome changes!
