Proudly Serving Urban Ventures Coffee

Valleyfair

Valleyfair is the Upper Midwest's largest amusement park, offering endless fun and thrills with world-class rides, attractions and live entertainment.

If you’ve never considered how a single cup of coffee can change a whole community, then you’ve probably never heard of Valleyfair’s partner, Urban Ventures. Urban Ventures is a South Minneapolis-based non-profit with a mission to end urban poverty. Their focus lies in equipping impoverished students with the tools they need to reach higher education. But that’s just the beginning of their initiative.

Urban Ventures educates and supports both parents and kids in South Minneapolis, reaching out to those stricken with poverty. They use the phrase “support from cradle to career” in their mission statement, suggesting the importance of youth development programs in acquiring a good job later on. Urban Ventures is dedicated to creating a family-friendly environment that makes everyone feel welcomed and included. They have created a strong community and continue to provide love and care to those who need it most.

Urban Ventures uses its resources to create more opportunities for inner-city kids. They have summer programs for schooling and sports, support groups, music lessons and much more. They implement the values of faith, integrity, and diversity and not only give students what they need to succeed but go beyond that, allowing them to explore their interests as well.

Urban Ventures works to better students in their education, and understand that a crucial part of education requires proper health and care. The need for fresh produce in South Minneapolis inspired the creation of a food truck farmers market with produce from the local community greenhouse. The greenhouse is run by 15 students over the summer who harvest the crops. This process gives jobs to students while supplying people with affordable fresh foods. Urban Ventures also emphasizes the importance of physical activity. They provide athletic clubs so that youth can get enough active time to remain healthy and strong. Urban Ventures helps provide those in South Minneapolis with a healthy lifestyle they wouldn’t have otherwise had access to. This non-profit understands the importance of health in education and is therefore mindful of the wellbeing of students, especially youth, who need the proper nutrients to develop into strong, smart adults.

To fund all these incentives, Urban Ventures members harvest coffee and ship it out to members of their Coffee Club. The Urban Ventures Coffee Club operates on a large and small scale, with corporations purchasing the coffee as well as individuals. Valleyfair is proud to serve Urban Ventures coffee and represent the non-profit in the park. Proceeds from every cup of Urban Ventures coffee goes back to the non-profit to help fund scholarships and mentoring, closing the opportunity gap for impoverished Minnesotan students, giving them greater access to college. Here at Valleyfair, you can support Urban Ventures by purchasing a cup of their coffee from select locations.

On August 1st, Valleyfair is bringing the Urban Ventures’ summer group of 500 students out to the park for a day of fun. We can’t wait to host this amazing group of students and show them all that Valleyfair has to offer! Next time you’re in the park, be sure to try a cup of Urban Ventures coffee to get that home-brewed flavor and that great feeling of giving to something larger than yourself.
