Larger-than-Life Entertainment for Our Largest-Ever Event

Grand Carnivale is debuting in the Twin Cities on Saturday, July 24. We have been waiting for over two years to introduce you to this event, and we could not be more excited. If you are looking for something fun this weekend, you will not want to miss Grand Carnivale! We have promised guests an experience, unlike any other Valleyfair experience. It is the scale of live entertainment that takes Grand Carnivale to the next level.
This event features over 100 performers throughout the park and caps the night off with a parade where the entire cast sings, dances, and celebrates five countries from around the world. In addition, we have dancers, stilt walkers, aerialists, acrobats, and more. Every single detail of this event is over-the-top.
Getting Ready
It takes so much work to pull off an event to this scale, which is why we sat down with our entertainment manager, Ryan Walton. "We have had so many workshops to make sure that everything is right," Walton said, "The timeline is short, but we are very detail-oriented. There are so many moving pieces, from the specialty acts to the live band, that are going to make this event so grand."
Performers for Grand Carnivale started editions for their roles back in March and April. Since then, they have been eagerly awaiting the start of the event. Because the park has been open and our regular entertainment has been running since June, Grand Carnivale rehearsals just started this last week. That means performers have just nine days to learn their routines and role, but we have no doubt in our minds that they will be able to conquer this endeavor.
It's Time To Party
One word Walton would use to describe this event would be immersion. "Guests are going to walk into an explosion of color," Walton said, "It's not just Valleyfair. It's going to be all of these locations around the world. There are going to be props, and decorations like guests have never seen before."
Each night of Grand Carnivale ends with The Spectacle of Color Parade, which is the event Walton is most excited for guests to experience. "It's going to be an exciting time for everyone," Walton said, "The music, choreography, lights, and streamers come together in a fantastic experience. But, the parade is what makes this event over the top."
Grand Carnivale is a royal celebration. We will have characters including The King and Queen of Carnivale, the Jester, and many more who will entertain guests throughout the entire experience. "Everything that you see will be to please the court members," Walton, "Our Jester character will take guests on a journey through Grand Carnivale."
Grand Carnivale opens on Saturday, July 24, and this is an experience you do not want to miss! Our team has been hard at work to get everything ready for this notable debut. If you are in the park during the event, be sure to take lots of photos and share them with our team by tagging us @ValleyfairMN or using the hashtag #CarnivaleMN.
