4 Tricks and Treats Spooktacular Itineraries

Tricks and Treats is Valleyfair’s Halloween-for-everyone fall event and we cannot wait to welcome you! With so much fun happening at the park, you might not be sure where to start. Your teens might like things that are different than your littles. You might be looking for a fun date idea or friend outing and aren’t sure if it is for you.
We’ve put together a few different itineraries for you that might help shape your visit. Scroll down to find the itinerary that fits your group!
Family with Teens
There’s a lot of Halloween and amusement park fun to be had with your teens while at Tricks and Treats. Here are a few of the top areas, entertainment, and activities that will have you making memories together without it feeling like cringy family time (though, you know they secretly like it!).
Head over to the Lands of Tricks where you will first encounter Ickyville. Kick it off with some silly fun to break the ice. Here on the Superior Stage, your kiddo…we mean, young adult… can participate in Beanboozled! They can spin the wheel and hope to get a yummy flavor jellybean and not one of our disgusting flavored beans. Stay for a set after of the hit, all-zombie band The Snots playing pop punk parodies of some of their favorite songs. While they play, you can pick up some delicious drinks (non-alcoholic and alcoholic) at Superior Bar close by, including Blood Bags, Brain Bleeds, and Toxic Waste drinks. Non-alcoholic Blood Bags can also be found in the same area at Sweet Tooth! Hit up our twisty coaster, Corkscrew on your way to Spooky Spires.
Once in Spooky Spires, catch a gallows humor jazz set by the Spectral Sisters. If your teen has an artistic streak, let them grab some chalk and participate in the Frame Worthy Frights mural activity. There are also winner-every-time games with some awesome prizes, so don’t miss that!
Keep heading to the back of the park (while riding some of the rides on the way like High Roller, Wild Thing, and Wheel of Fortune), and visit our new Enchanté Soirée at the Chateau. This is a deliciously dark walk-through experience where you will meet the characters that reside in this gorgeous mansion. It will be a scream!
Take a ride on Renegade while you are back that way, as well!
By now you must have worked up an appetite, so swing into Stadium Grille where you can find Tricks and Treats specialty items like El Día de los Muertos Tamales, Butternut Squash Flatbread, and Sweet Apple Bettys. We also have our selection of beverages there as well if you are ready for your second blood bag. Send the teens out to ride rides while you catch up the Viking score and have another brew.
On the way back toward the front of the park, be sure to participate in Ding Dong Doom! You will find some curious looking doors throughout the four lands. There’s a chance to win a prize during this interactive journey through the four lands of Tricks and Treats, so don’t miss out! Hit up Xtreme Swing while you head on back toward the front of the park.
Is it time for dessert? Head back to Ickyville and try a Worms in Dirt Funnel Cake or Pumpkin Beignets which can be found at Sweet Tooth. Finally, at 7pm, enjoy the Ghoulish GlowFest, our nighttime glowrific dance party to close the night with a bang! Snap a selfie together in front of our glowing maple trees at the entrance on your way out and be sure to tag us at #vftricksandtreats!
Fun Date Idea!
You can learn a lot about your date by how they Halloween – are they more into toxic zombies, gothic vampires, autumn’s coziness, or are they all about the candy? Make it a fun game to discover your Halloween compatibility! Make it extra fun and don couple’s costumes while on your outing!
First, get that blood pumping (and maybe some nerves) out of the way with a romantic ride on North Star, just around the corner of Route 76. The seats come in pairs and you can get a beautiful aerial view of the park to start your visit. Next, head over to Midway Games on your way to Sweet Tooth Acres and win your special someone a prize! Or play a game like Top Glow and try to beat each other for a prize. If you want a guaranteed win, visit Spooky Spires' winner-every-time games! Once you have won your Squishmallow or Pokémon plushie, head over to Xtreme Confections for a delicious Tricks and Treats sweet, like warm Pumpkin Beignets, Bride of Frank’s Ice Cream, or share a Worms in Dirt Funnel Cake! Take a ride on Xtreme Swing or Power Tower while you are there!
Head on over to Everfall and listen to the romantic melodies. Sip on Tricks and Treats specialty cocktails, craft brews, or wine while you sing along to the acoustic sounds of the Harvest Duet.
Head on back to the Lost Lands and find yourself in the mystical Enchanté Soirée at the Chateau, our new walk-through experience where French witches will invite you into their magical home of shadows. When finished, get your heart racing with a ride on Renegade!
Swing over to the other side of the park (High Roller is a great thrill ride stop on your way) toward Spooky Spires where you and your date can compete to see who can give the Scream Bottler the loudest scream. Then, ask your date to dance with you while listening to the Spectral Sisters’ haunting jazz melodies.
Take a spin on Corkscrew before entering Ickyville for a funky, gunky end to the evening. Rock out to the popular, all-zombie band The Snots and their icky takes on popular tunes that will have you in stitches. Refresh your drinks at Superior Bar where you can find the full lineup of awesome specialty cocktails and Blood Bags OR Sweet Tooth for non-alcoholic Blood Bags and Apple Pie Mocktails. Finally, at 7pm light up the night with our Ghoulish GlowFest dance party! Be sure to snap some selfies with our Creature Features. Family with Young Children
There is SO much to do at Tricks and Treats for young children, so get here right when we open! Get those costumes on and strut your stuff on Patch’s Place stage for The Costume Contest! Our hosts will award prizes for the most original, cutest, and scariest costumes!
From here, head over to Sweet Tooth Acres where you will hear joyous tunes of our Candy Horns and Fun Sized Four while you visit our Trick or Treat Trail to get those sweet, sweet treats (open from 1pm-7pm). Speaking of sweet, visit Xtreme Confections for our Tricks and Treats specialty desserts like Worms in Dirt Funnel Cakes, Bride of Frank’s Ice Cream, or Pumpkin Beignets. Wash it down with one of our mocktail Blood Bags like Purple People Eater and Pixie Potion. Mosey over to Everfall with your delicious treats and listen to the acoustic tunes of our Harvest Duet or hear not-so-spooky stories told by Ginny Pumpkinseed! Once refreshed, visit our Craft Central to decorate pumpkins and create masks. Parents can grab a not-so-kiddie-cocktail at Atomic as well while the kids display their artistic creations.
Swing around the bend through Planet Snoopy and enjoy rides galore tailored to our littlest friends. After all the mini-thrills have been had, scoot over to Spooky Spires and play some winner-every-time games! These are fantastic for avoiding any tantrums as everyone wins a prize! While there, listen to the gallows humor jazz tunes of the Spectral Sisters. Give the Scream Bottler your LOUDEST scream while you are there!
Whether lunch or dinner, you can grab some seasonally delicious meals like El Día de los Muertos Tamales, Butternut Squash Flatbread, and Sweet Apple Bettys at Mama Chetta’s.
Keep on your journey to Ickyville where your littles can participate in Beanboozled! They can spin the wheel and hope to get a yummy flavor jellybean and not one of our disgusting flavored beans. Rock out to a set after of the hit, all-zombie band The Snots playing pop punk parodies of popular songs. Make some satisfying slime with Slime Works for a fun craft activity (note: extra cost).
Swing back around to Patch’s Place by 6pm or 7pm to catch the celebratory spectacle of Patch’s Halloween Bash! When its time to start winding down, head across from Patch’s Place to the Wagon-Along Story Stroll for a family wagon experience through pumpkins and haybales. Out with Adult Friends
Yes, Tricks and Treats makes for a fun outing with just adults, too! There are so many Instagrammable moments to give your followers serious FOMO. First, head on in and go to the Land of Tricks. Here you will find the hit band, The Snots playing on the Superior Stage! Visit Superior Bar for a selection of delicious, themed cocktails, such as I Vant to Drink Your Blood, Toxic Waste, and A Positive Blood Bags, as well as wine and local brews! Dance away to the pop punk tunes and then take a ride on Corkscrew!
Head over to Spooky Spires and listen to the dulcet jazz tones of the Spectral Sisters. Whether lunch or dinner, you can grab some seasonally delicious girl dinner like El Día de los Muertos Tamales, Butternut Squash Flatbread, and Sweet Apple Bettys at Mama Chetta’s.
Ready for some rides? Head on over to Power Tower, Xtreme Swing, and Wild Thing next to get those thrills on! There you will also find yourself in Everfall, a pumpkin-spiced heaven where you will find the Harvest Duet singing and playing warm acoustic melodies. While there, you can refresh your drinks at Wild Thing Brews and Spirits!
