Your ValleyScare Questions Answered!

September 17, 2024

ValleyScare opens soon and you might have questions about our separate gate or other policies. Or when is the best time to arrive? Or perhaps have other questions. Read on to find answers to your burning questions.

Separate Gate: How does that work?

ValleyScare is a separately ticketed event. See below for ticket options (purchase online to avoid more wait time at the park). Gold Passholders get unlimited visits to ValleyScare.

We highly recommend you arrive early! Guests should expect longer lines and wait times to get into the parking lot and the park if arriving after 7pm due to the popularity of this event.

Friday Guests:

  • Parking opens at 5:30pm.
  • The front gate opens at 6:15pm.
  • Guests who are under 21 years of age and/or are a chaperone bringing minors into the park should go to the main entrance line.
  • From 7pm-9pm, guests over 21 years of age (without minors) should go to the satellite entrance to the left of the main gate (under the Wild Thing curve).
  • Guests who arrive early can enjoy rides in Route 76, food, beverages, and shopping.

Saturday Guests:

  • At 5:30pm, all guests (season passholders and ticket holders alike) will enter at the satellite gate to the left of the main gate (under the Wild Thing curve) and will be able to enjoy our expanded holding zone prior to the event opening.
  • After 6:30pm, guests who are under 21 years of age and/or are a chaperone bringing minors into the park should go to the main entrance line.
  • From 7pm-9pm, guests over 21 years of age should go to the satellite entrance to the left of the main gate (under the Wild Thing curve).
  • Guests who arrive early can enjoy Route 76 rides, early access to Cryptid Land and Seeded and Scorned, food, beverages, and shopping.

Both Nights:

  • Everyone over the age of 15 MUST bring a physical, government issued ID for age verification due to our Chaperone Policy. Chaperones MUST be in line with their minors upon arrival.
  • Portable restrooms have been added to accommodate guests who are waiting in line to get into the park. Please ask an associate for directions if needed.
  • Follow the directions of our parking attendants to ensure smooth entry and avoid back-ups on the highway.
  • Line jumping and ‘chaperone shopping’ will NOT be tolerated. Please notify a security associate if you witness any of this happening.
Are rides included in ValleyScare?

Of course!! You can find our full list of rides on our ValleyScare website that are scheduled to be open (subject to change).

We highly recommend getting a Fright and Fast Lane pass so you can enjoy this fog-filled dark thrill experience even more!

Because ValleyScare has a no re-entry policy, where can I smoke or vape?

We have a designated smoking area inside the park between Atomic and the Arcade, behind the green planters. As a reminder, only tobacco/nicotine based products are allowed to be smoked or vaped inside the designated smoking area. No cannabis products are allowed on the premises and will result in an ejection from the park if caught using.

I'm scared of the monsters--what can I do?

Valleyfair offers a ‘No Boo’ necklace which gives yourself scare immunity from the monsters lurking inside ValleyScare. Wearing this necklace significantly reduces the likelihood of being scared by monsters in scare zones. No Boo necklaces are not valid in the mazes and cannot guarantee a scare free night. You can purchase it ahead of time on our webstore (just click on Buy Now on any ticket link, and hover over the ValleyScare tab) or the day of your visit.

I have a 2024 or 2025 Gold Pass-how many times can I go to ValleyScare?

You can go every night if you like! Gold Pass holders enjoy unlimited ValleyScare (and Tricks and Treats), plus free parking!

I have a Silver Pass-can I attend ValleyScare?

No, unfortunately Gold Pass is the only season pass that allows you to get unlimited visits to ValleyScare. You can of course purchase tickets through our website to this event.

Can we expect entertainment or live shows this year?

We have mesmerizing performances throughout the park during ValleyScare! From an EDM dance party to fire juggling, our sinister shows will have your blood pumping! Check out the full lineup on our Shows page.

Do I need to bring ID?

As always, it is recommended that you bring a physical copy of your government issued license.  Please understand that a digital photo of your identification will not be accepted.

Can I take photos or videos while there?

Guests cannot photograph, video record, or use their phone while inside the haunted mazes. You may use your camera or phone while in the midways and scare zones, however we do not allow unsolicited photographing or video recording that disrupts a guest’s experience or interferes with park operations.

Can I bring my purse or backpack?

During ValleyScare, clear plastic bags smaller than 12” x 12” x 6” as well as non-clear wristlets or clutches no larger than 5”x 8”x 2” are allowed. All bags are subject to search prior to entry.  If you are attending Tricks and Treats (which has no bag policy) and ValleyScare, you will need to put any non-compliant bags into your car before re-entering for ValleyScare.

Do kids have to have a chaperone?

All guests aged 15 years old or younger must be accompanied by a chaperone who is at least 21 years old to be admitted to, or remain in, the park for ValleyScare. Our full chaperone policy can be found on our ValleyScare Code of Conduct page.

Where can I find information about any special effects I might have a medical reaction to?

Each maze will have signage posted with the Safety Guide that outlines what effects might be utilized that could trigger any adverse reactions from sensitive groups.

Do you have food or drink for sale during ValleyScare?

We have to-die-for dinners, tricky treats, and fang-tastic drinks to enjoy. Check out our menu and make your dinner plans with us!

How will I know where to go to get into the haunted mazes or other events?

Valleyfair will have lots of in-park signage to help you find what you are looking for (and of course, you can always ask a friendly associate). You can also download our Fright Guide, but your best bet is to download our app which will give you directions to the attraction of choice, show times and show you wait times for rides!

We can't wait to welcome you to our nightmare with ValleyScare this year. Get tickets today or live to regret it!
